Our Identity

The Special Unit of Mental Health “Oselotos” was founded in January 2018 as an organization of the “Child and
Adolescent Center,” and from January 2022 continues its operation as a branch of the Urban Non-Profit Company
“Functional Communication, Therapy and Education Society, Non Profit Civil Company” (F.C.T.E. Society).
Its purpose is to holistically address the deviant behavior and delinquency of adolescents and young adults with mental
disorders and psychosocial problems through mental health services and psychosocial support.
It is addressed towards :

  • Adolescents and young adults belonging to high-risk groups (mental disorders, dysfunctional families, etc.)
  • develop deviant or delinquent behavior.
  • Adolescents and young adults involved with the law.
  • Families and the wider social environment

  •  Within the framework of our operation, we promote and develop cross-sectoral cooperation actions with:
  • Educational frameworks, Mental Health and Child Protection Institutions, Police and Judicial authorities.
  • The Unit is staffed by: Psychiatrist, Child Psychiatrist, Criminologist, Sociologist, Psychologist, Social Worker, Legal and
  • Administrative Officer.
  • From the beginning of its operation until August 2021, it has welcomed more than 150 teenagers, young adults and their
  • families who had developed deviant or delinquent behavior.
  • 78% of the beneficiaries of the Unit have a mental disorder and 63.64% of them belong to the diagnostic category
  • “Emotional disorders and behavioral disorders starting usually in childhood and adolescence” (According to ICD10 F90-
  • F98). Specifically, 82.14% of individuals are diagnosed with Activity and Attention Disorder (According to ICD10 F90.0 or
  • ADHD according to DSM) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (According to ICD10 F90.1). In addition, 41.67%
  • related to the diagnostic category, Other problems related to the upbringing of the child (According to ICD10 Z62) and
  • 43.33% to the diagnostic category, Other problems related to the primary support group, which includes family
  • conditions ( According to ICD10 Z63). A large percentage of beneficiaries have comorbid conditions, that is, they have
  • more than one diagnosis.
